Saturn January 16, 2005

Posted By jim phillips

Those of you who know me won't be surprised. I decided using the 2.5X Powermate inserted into the 2X Big barlow worked very well when the seeing allowed. So, to make sure I did not loose the 2X Big barlow I put it away in a special place. Last night I could not find it... :^)
So, here is Saturn last night using a 4X powermate FYI.

Pico

Cold here last night (I know, I don't understand what cold is smile ). Here is an image of the area around Pico and Pico B. The mountains are overexposed because I was more interested in the dome-like bulges in the mare. FYI.

Well, after seeing Damia Peach and David Tyler's Saturn composite I hesitate to post but I can't help myself. smile The seeing was better than I thought it was going to be but maybe not quite as good as I hoped (Is it ever?). FYI.

One of Those Nights

Posted By jim phillips

I got everything set up early, had a nice meal with the Family and set out to observe. The sky was beautifully clear. The seeing however was the worst I have ever experienced I believe. I tried to wait it out. But, by 3:30 AM and a temperature of 28 degrees I gave up. I got into my car, turned it on, and must admit, the warm air was very nice.
The image is from a better night, FYI
