Covid-19 data and graphs

This one is 30 seconds using my old Jagers 5" f/5 refractor.

As an aside, I saw what you meant about so many satellites in the images. Judging from their motions and close proximity, I think they may be from Musk's Starlink project.

Funny, I well remember from the late 60's we were ecstatic if we photographed a satellite, (Echo I and II, Pegasus). Now, they are a pain!

Hey Jimbo,

Enough already!  How about you take your clouds back and let the rest of us get a decent view of the comet!!  wink

Was out for around 2 hours last night.  This was the only view I was able to get.  Only used the binoculars and the 100mm lens.  The coma seemed more diffuse and only about 3 degrees of tail could be seen because of all the cloud.  sad

Hi Jim,

I feel your pain.  How is it that the clouds always seem to know just when to come over and spoil something interesting? And how often is the sky totally clear apart from the one little spot where you need to observe?!?!?!

Murphy sure seems to love astronomy!

Hi Everyone,

At the risk of getting away from the comet and back to Covid-19, here is a news item about what is happening in Australia.  They thought they had the virus under control so they started relaxing the lockdown.  Now some states are experiencing a surge in cases.  And quite a few of them are with younger people.

"Intensive care nurse's blunt warning over coronavirus risk to younger adults"

"The head intensive care unit nurse at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Michelle Spence, said there was a growing number of younger adults being hospitalised by the virus.

"What we are seeing now is young people who are going to die. There is no doubt about it," she said.

"And these are people who are 30s, 40s, 50s, who have no past history.""

Whom do you believe?  Dr Fauci (whom trump denigrates) or Dr Stella Immanuel (Whom Trump praises)

Dr Immanuel believes amongst other things, Government leaders are really reptilian aliens masquerading as humans, alien DNA is being used in vaccines, endometriosis is caused by having sex with demons during dreams, and that scientists are developing a vaccine to prevent people becoming religious.

Trump calls for election to be delayed.

Posted By Maurice Clark

After previously refusing to commit to accepting the result of the election if he loses, now trump is calling for the election to be delayed.  He stated on twitter "Delay the election until people can properly, securely and safely vote???".

So he is saying that it will be unsafe for people to vote in person in November, presumably because of the virus, but things are safe enough for schools to reopen now?

I wonder if he is really more concerned about losing the election and is trying to find excuses not to accept the result? Hopefully someone will inform him that he does not have the power to delay the election.

On the other hand, it could just be an attempt to deflect attention away from the truly dismal second-quarter economic numbers just released.

Since saint richie with his superior intellect and glorious education doesn't seem to know how to keep up with trump news, here is just one news item I picked at random showing trump refusing to commit to accepting the election results if he loses.

“I have to see. Look ... I have to see,” Trump told moderator Chris Wallace during a wide-ranging interview on “Fox News Sunday.” “No, I’m not going to just say yes. I’m not going to say no, and I didn’t last time either.”
