Trump: US Treasury should get cut of TikTok deal

Posted By Maurice Clark

This is a strange one. Trump is demanding a cut from the proposed sale of TicTok to Microsoft.

"The US president said he made a demand for a "substantial portion" of the purchase price in a phone call at the weekend with Microsoft's boss."

"The United States should get a very large percentage of that price, because we're making it possible," Mr Trump said.

"TikTok's US operations "will close down on September 15 unless Microsoft or somebody else is able to buy it and work out a deal, an appropriate deal so the Treasury… of the United States gets a lot of money," he said."

Sounds like a Mafia boss speaking.

One wonders if this is another attempt at distraction since it hit the news last night that the Federal Court in the Southern District of New York (SDNY) may be investigating US President Donald Trump and his company for insurance and bank fraud.

Trump blocks USPS funds to prevent mail-in voting

Posted By Maurice Clark

This one is remarkable. donnie has admitted blocking money for the postal service to prevent expanded mail-in voting on the same day he applies for a postal vote!

On top of that, newly appointed Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, (a big donor to the great leader's re-election campaign) has stopped overtime pay for postal workers and reduced the number of mail-sorting machines. DeJoy also announced a plan to charge states first-class rates, as opposed to bulk rates, for delivering ballots. That would increase the cost of that service from 20 cents to 55 cents. Multiply that by a few million, and it becomes big money for states to fork out.

All aimed to try and help trump's re-election by minimising voter turnout.

Also on that score, Trump-loving Ohio Secretary of State, Frank LaRose has announced that he is going to set up drop boxes, as required by state law. Each of Ohio's 88 counties will get...one dropbox, located at the county registrar's office. This would mean that some voters would face several hours to drive to the nearest dropbox. Is there nothing the republicans will not do to try and win the election?

Maybe it is time to call in UN election monitors for vet the election!

Covid-19 data and graphs

Posted By Maurice Clark

Hi Jim,

Thought I might throw in what has been happening here at my university.

We started classes last Wednesday with half the class attending one day and the rest the next class. Social distancing and masks are required. I have a total of 47 in-person students. Of those, 4 have already tested positive for the virus, with several more placed in quarantine. Faculty are beginning to wonder if we will make it past labour day before we go back to online classes only.

If it is like this for a university, I wonder what it will be like for schools.

Here is just one article discussing the effects of climate change on California's bushfires.

Of course, the author is only an Environment Scientist and Astrophysicist, so what does he know compared to our hero, saint dodgeball, the world's greatest genius and expert on everything.

Trump Can't Spell "Liar"

Posted By Maurice Clark

Hi James,

From the polls it certainly does look good for Biden at this time. However, I totally agree it is too early to tell just yet.  It all comes down to turnout. Perhaps this is why trump is doing all he can to suppress voting as much as possible.
