Jupiter and Saturn from May 1, 2005

Posted By Jake Jacobson

Hi Paul -

Sorry about the seeing - I have had the same problem all year also . I am amazed that anyone is getting a clear image of Jupiter.

Nonetheless, there is lots of detail in your images, and the Saturn looks quite nice! Keep at it, and you will catch a good night sooner or later!

Blue Festoon

Jim -

That is an excellent image, full of detail with a very natural, "unprocessed" look.

That festoon is incredibly large and shows up well visually - you have done a good job at capturing it.

Meade 4" APO

Posted By Jake Jacobson

Hi David -

I was considering one of those as well, they seem to get good reviews when you search the archives here for "102ed".

Do some research on the web, there is plenty of info out there about the mount, and the scope.

1st CCD M17

Looks really good!

My only other comment would be that the sharpening looks
a little strong, and is causing "black halos" around your
stars.

Excellent first image - looks like a great camera!

LX200 8" Classic Power Supply Options

Posted By Jake Jacobson

Why not get a nice 12v "deep cycle" battery and a
black marine case - should cost you about $60 total at Walmart,
and would last tons longer with the power-hungry LX200 classic.

GM8 for a 25lb 6" F8 refractor?

Posted By Jake Jacobson

I wouldn't put a 6" f/8 on a GM-8 - dampening times would be horrible.

I agree with Ed, an Atlas EQ-G would be a better choice. It supports my Meade 102ed and Vixen ED80sf plus imaging equipment and doesn't even cough.

C102F can't come to focus

Posted By Jake Jacobson

Interesting thread, as I am the one who sold Evan the C102F.

I was able to reach focus just fine with all my eyepieces using a 2" diagonal with this very scope. That being said, I used it with a Lumicon 2" enhanced diagonal - not sure if that makes a difference or not.

Also, contrary to what has been suggested earlier in this thread, the scope has never been disassembled or modified in any way. Evan, feel free to give me a call if you experience problems or would like to return the scope- I miss it already!

Jerome Corsi Fights Back! - YouTube Video

Posted By Jake Jacobson

The original "swift-boater" - hardly a credible source.

I don't like BO either, but Jerome Corsi is a liar and smearer of the highest order.
