Some Questions from a returning newbie.Posted By Steve Miles |
I purchased a Tele Vue 85 right here on Astromart many moons ago. I have some great memories with it as well as a 12.5" Meade Dobsonian that I loved. I still have all my gear that I collected and it has not been used in some time. I want to start by selling my Tele Vue which is in pretty much mint condition and some eyepieces etc. I know people may be nervous and thinking that I am a potential scammer with a high-priced item and no history. I want to ensure I list my ads in such a way that I build trust. I can even talk on the phone if that helps. I will be taking many pictures to show the exact item I am selling and it is not just a website photo from the manufacturer. I also want to protect myself from being scammed and losing an expensive item and not being paid.
I will package the Tele Vue so that it should arrive without incident. I also will have it insured and with tracking and signature required so that it can't be denied that it ever arrived. I think I have that shipping part figured out. I am located in Canada so if someone from the US or another country is interested it will be their responsibility to look into customs and duty etc.
I am thinking PayPal might be a good payment method but I would like some thoughts from others and their experiences. I know there is a dispute resolution part to Paypal and from my very quick look into it and it appears you have up to 180 days to make a dispute or claim. My concern is that if someone wants to scam me is this an easy process for them to make my life difficult.
I am a retired Police officer and as honest as the day is long. I will provide plenty of clear photos and describe everything in detail so that there should be absolutely no confusion. Any thoughts appreciated
