Megrez vs. RR

Posted By Douglas Smallen

I never looked through a Megrez, but have a RR 83/500. It's a well corrected achro, fully coated. Very little color on the Moon and other objects. After you buy lens and cell, focuser, diag, etc. you save about $75.00- 100.00. I think you get a scope in the same leauge as Megrez, Stellarvue optics wise. The rest of the scope depends on how much your willing to spend, focuser, diag. etc.

To flock the impossible...

Posted By Douglas Smallen

I used a heavy plastic sheet used to cut Stencils as a backing. I cut it to fit tight aganist itself, slid it up the tube. At that length you would need to do sections about 6" at a time. Mine was sections between baffels. It's been in the scope over a year, no problems.

Saw through the Telrad Foam with Dental floss. Use Goo Gone to remove the Adhesive. Goo Gone is sold at most Home Centers / Hardware's.

PST collimation issue

Posted By Douglas Smallen

I got my latest S&T Mag. today, they have a Review of the PST. In the Review they talk about the Ghosting in all three of the PST's they looked with. They said it is most noticeable at low power, and gets better higher power. You and S&T are the only mention iv'e read of it from reviews or user report's. They (S&T) assumed it was part of the Desighn, was my thought.
