Emission Nebula - LBN 864

Posted By Jim Thommes

Here is an object (LBN 864) that is infrequently imaged. I have not found reference to it in either the NGC or IC. I have attached a midsize thumbnail. A full size image and exposure / processing details are at:

http://jthommes.com/Astro/LBN864.htm

The image is centered at: Equatorial 2000: RA: 06h 08m 36s Dec: +15°43'58"

The scope was my C8 at f/2.6, the camera was my ToUcam SC3 RAW. Total exposure is about 55 minutes.

I used a Hydrogen-Alpha exposure and composited it into the image, so the red is a false color (or at least emphasized).

Cluster with nebulosity - NGC 2467

Here is an image of a somewhat Southerly cluster with nebulosity - NGC 2467.

I have attached a mid size thumbnail image. A full size image with exposure and processing details can be accessed at:

Scope was my C8 at f/2.8, Camera was my ToUcam SC3 RAW

Mini Double Cluster - NGC 1807, 1817

Posted By Jim Thommes

Well, it looks like I was attracted to some open clusters again.

These two clusters are in a 50 arc minute field. The smaller NGC 1807 is in the lower right and NGC 1817 is in the upper left. North is up. I have attached a mid sized thumbnail, but a full size image with exposure and processing details are at:

http://jthommes.com/Astro/NGC1807-1817.htm

Scope is my Megrez II at f/4.1 camera is my ToUcam SC3 RAW

Galaxy NGC 4565

Posted By Jim Thommes

Here is an image of NGC 4565 in Coma Berenices. I struggled a little with seeing, so there is more noise and less clarity than I would like. I have attached a midsized thumbnail, but a full size image as well as exposure and processing details can be seen at:

http://jthommes.com/Astro/NGC4565.htm

Scope was my C8 at about f/4.5 camera was my ToUcam SC3 RAW

M59 M60 and friends

Posted By Jim Thommes

Here is an image of M59 and M60 and friends. As Elliptical galaxies, these objects are not real exciting to look at, but it is fun to see a number of galaxies in a 50 arc minute field. I have attached a mid size thumbnail, but a larger image as well as exposure and processing details can be accessed at the link below. The linked page also lists 9 of the noticeably visible objects of the 12 that I can detect.

Here is an image of a Galaxy NGC 3521. I have attached a mid sized thumbnail, a full size image and exposure / processing details are at:

http://jthommes.com/Astro/NGC3521.htm

Scope was my C8 at f/5 and the camera was my ToUcam SC3 RAW.

Total exposure time was about 41 minutes.

Open Cluster NGC2353

Posted By Jim Thommes

I have imaged several lesser known open clusters in the Puppis, Canis Major, Monoceros area. Here is the first of those images NGC 2353. I have attached a midsized thumbnail, a full size image and exposure processing details can be accessed at:

http://jthommes.com/Astro/NGC2353.htm

Scope was my C8 at f/2.8 Camera was my ToUcam SC3 RAW.

I will try to get the rest posted throughout the week.

Open Cluster - Melotte 71

Posted By Jim Thommes

More open clusters.... Here is Melotte 71 just 2.5 deg north of the M46 M47 area. I have attached a mid size thumbnail but a full size image as well as exposure and processing are at:

http://jthommes.com/Astro/Melotte71.htm

Scope was my C8 at f/2.8, camera was my ToUcam SC3

Total exposure time is about 24 minutes.

Open Cluster NGC2301

Posted By Jim Thommes

One more open cluster, then I'll break for a while. This is NGC 2301 centrally located in Monoceros roughly between the Rosette Nebula and M50. I have attached a mid size thumbnail. Full size and details are at:

http://jthommes.com/Astro/NGC2301.htm

Scope is my C8 at f/2.8 and the camera is my ToUcam SC3 RAW

Total exposure is about 24 minutes

Galaxy NGC 2841

Posted By Jim Thommes

I have an image of the galaxy NGC 2841 in Ursa Major. This galaxy had noted supernova in April of 1999. (nothing seen in the recent image). A mid sized thumbnail is attached. A full sized image can be seen along with exposure and processing data at:

http://jthommes.com/Astro/NGC2841.htm

Scope is my C8 at f/5, Camera is my ToUcam SC3 RAW.

There were a few clouds and many unusable subframes. But total exposure time of the used data was about 38 minutes.
