Southern Pinwheel Galaxy

Posted By Jim Thommes

Here is an image I made of M83 in a somewhat wide field (30') I have attached a mid size thumbnail. A full size image and exposure / processing details are at:

http://jthommes.com/Astro/M83.htm

The Scope is my C8 at f/2.8. The camera is my ToUcam SC3. Total exposure time was 36 minutes for LRGB exposures.

I also have a wide field image of M95 and M96 taken with my Megrez II ED. In order to capture both, objects, the field lacked resolution of any of the objects details, but it does show them together.

M3 - first light

Posted By Jim Thommes

I have been absent for a while, sorry. What kept me away was trying out a camera I got on loan for awhile. It is the Artemis285. It has the Sony ICX285 chip like the Starlight XPress SXV-H9.

Here is M3. Focus was off, but I managed something out of it. I have attached a mid sized thumbnail, but a full size version along with exposure and processing details can be seen at:

http://jthommes.com/Astro/m3.htm

Remember, this is not my ToUcam SC3 webcam.

Open Clusters M67 and NGC 2539

Posted By Jim Thommes

It would be considered fairly late season for these objects (particularly NGC2539). This data was taken back in April. I have been somewhat busy with Artemis but finally got back to these ToUcam SC3 images.

I have attached a midsized thumbnail of M67. Full size image as well as exposure and processing details are at:

http://jthommes.com/Astro/M67.htm

And for NGC 2539....

http://jthommes.com/Astro/NGC2539.htm

The scope for both images was my C8 at f/2.8
Both images involved a total exposure time of about 24 minutes.

OK, I know this one has been imaged to death, But I did this one with the webcam before I started fooling around with the Artemis285 camera. Thought I would post it.

I have attached a mid sized thumbnail. A full size image and exposure / processing details are at:

http://jthommes.com/Astro/NGC3628.htm

Scope was my C8 at f/3.2. The camera is my ToUcam SC3.

Here is an image of M9 taken early in the morning April 16. I had not imaged this object before so it was a first for me. Seeing was pretty good at the time. I have attached a mid size thumbnail, but a full size image and exposure / processing details can be seen at:

http://jthommes.com/Astro/M9.htm

Scope was my C8 at f/5, Camera was my ToUcam SC3
Total exposure time was just a little over 20 minutes.
