Deep Sky Observation Planning

Posted By Tom Licha

Hello,

we finished a tool for finding the deep sky objects best placed at certain month. According to your field of view you will get a list out of 284 currently online. Includes the most popular clusters of galaxies, all Messier and lots of NGC, IC among others.

Another tool is listing all of these objects by size to match the targets to your field of view.

When a photo is already available you can link from to tools to this photo together with more information.

I hope it is helpful to some of you and you would like to contribute some pictures to the site.

Re: wait for Discovery scopes

I got my 10 inch from stock. Instant. Am I a lucky guy?!?

In deed: for that price the optics are superb!

Too small secondary - optical implication?

Posted By Tom Licha

Hello,

what does a too small secondary do to the system performance?

Only a loss of light or even reducing the resolution of the primary (Raleigh criterion)?

Thanx

OSLO How to input central obstruction?

Posted By Tom Licha

Hello,

how can I input the central obstruction of a Newtonian to OSLO? I sucessfuly applied the 45 degree secondary, but this has no effect to the PSF.

A central obstruction should pump light from the center to the first diffraction ring. But my modelled secondary does not change that...

Thanx and
Gute Nacht

Recommended Wide Angle Lens

Posted By Tom Licha

Hi all,

can anyone recommend a good wide angle lens arround 16mm? I had a close look at a Zenitar 16mm. Does anyone know about the performance on stars?

Thanx
