Liberia

Should we go in and help make a difference? Seems to me this is an opportunity for the Bush administration to take a purely humanitarian action. Stepping up to the plate here might also help with some of our international credibility. What do you think?

Harry Truman...

...said: "The buck stops here." Harry was a principled and down to earth leader, a man of integrity who took responsibility for his actions.

In light of recent events it appears that George Bush either has little understanding of Harry's quote or simply has no use for it. Easier to get someone else to take the heat.

Re: Blair's speech to congress

While I'm not a fan of Blair's approach to this "war on terrorism" at least he is capable (unlike Bush) of stringing a few coherent sentences together. But even though he is eloquent and sincere in his demeanor, he is doing a questionable job of representing the interests of his country, the majority of who don't support his position. As for the press conference and the answers Bush gave? I couldn't begin to count how many times I've heard that same speech. He gives it regardless of what question he is asked.

Also in the interest of "clarity" let me suggest that this is nothing more than the typical bull that Tom DeLay likes to amuse himself with. I'm sure he also amuses his boss and a few wagon loads of texans... who are no doubt impressed with the funny way he talks ;-) Nothing new here, just more divisive lip flapping.

NEON LIVES!!!!!!!!

Seems like...

...some folks have already left this forum or are getting ready to. We all need a break now and then, but I hope they come back. It gets to be a hot kitchen in here sometimes, not one that everyone would want to go in. Some of us get very passionate about politics, but passion needs to be tempered with humor and even humility at times... and of course I do see some of that here. A little suggestion though: We have a rule in another political forum I go to that doesn't allow ad hominem attacks. Spending energy attacking the poster, rather than debating the information, and pretty soon there is bad blood, the forum has become an arena, and whats left? Fortunately I don't have time to come here all that often, so my break is built in. ;-) OK, that was my 2 cents worth. As you were... May the neon be with you!

Colin Powell

Posted By Joe Lentz

This story was in yesterday's Philadelphia Inquirer; it gives some idea of why much of the respect Secretary of State Powell once enjoyed is on the wane. At best he was a victim of faulty intelligence, but his credibility has taken a dive among many who at one time thought he might even make a good president.

It gives me no pleasure to post this; there was a time when I thought the Bush administration's inclusion of Powell in the cabinet gave it a much needed dose of integrity. Sadly, I no longer believe this to be the case.

You know, I'll give that brain-dead pretender points if he gets behind this in a serious way. Is this some kind of atonement? ;-)

confuse or rankle someone. We have to be the most contrary (and sometimes stupid) species on the planet.

Ahhhh...... venting can be so cathartic! :-)
