another unsuccessful attempt at hiding

About the closest I can get without spooking it. Best resolution so far.

final and largest GBH

Posted By Eric Todd

Ok, folks, this is the final Great Blue Heron. Taken from about 10-15' away, it just stopped and stared at me while I took several sub-images to make the final composite/ mosaic. 50% size reduction.

first results with a new camera

Posted By Eric Todd

Decided to switch cameras. Here is an image taken with a Nikon D40 at prime focus of Apex 127. I lost all auto controls by using the Apex. Focus was fairly easy, but exposure had to be experimented with. I'm still having trouble with the mirror lock with this "manual" lens. Right now, once locked, nothing functions other than a message saying that the mirror is locked, so would appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks,
Eric

Little Blue Heron

Tough to track these down. Saw one a week ago, but not a good shot. Finally got close to one this morning. Not too many of these around here, but they could be hiding since they are small. ETX-90, CP990.

Great Blue Heron with new set-up

Continuing to test my "rented" Canon Rebel XT/ Canon 400mm f/5.6 lens. One thing I do notice is that, while the images seem a bit sharper than the digiscoping set-up at the same distance, you have to be closer than the digiscope for best results.
