My Weapons Systems Wish List

Posted By jeff glancy

After looking at this:

http://www.realclearworld.com/blog/2011/04/us_military_spending_vs_the_world.html

I think that the military industrial complex must be choking on cash. We spend so much and seem to get so little for it. I would guess that it cost s far less to develop and deploy an anti tank weapon then a new tank.

As Eisenhower warned: Beware of the military industrial complex.
But what the hell did Ike know, huh?

Interesting.. Leaker-in-Chief?

You're right, there are things that shouldn't be talked about. Now do a google on Valerie Palme. Just want to add a little balance to what I'm interpreting as your indignation. Apologies if I've interpreted you incorrectly.

Party Time: Cayman Islands!

Interesting story. Speaks volumes as to why the country is so polarized.

Rmoney - lies, lies and more lies

Posted By jeff glancy

This is an election. Truth was a casualty a long time ago - on BOTH sides of the fence. It's easier to contend with it by asking yourself the magic question.

Looks like the party is over

Well, the timing of this is just too cute for words. Years go by. Hundreds of millions if not billions of dollars run through these companies and now of all times, someone THINKS there evidence of tax evasion. To quote Bill Clinton: Give me a break.

I always thought the Republican party was the undisputed master of shooting itself in the foot but the Democrats seem to be unwilling to give up that distinction without a fight. Without question the inmates have taken over the asylum - on both sides.

Clinton knocked it out of the park, for Richard

I don't know about 4 more years but love Clinton or hate him, he did give a hell of a speech.

Obama

Posted By jeff glancy

You must be too young to remember the effect that Ronald Reagan had on Republicans and independents. It was the same thing - and Reagan won after putting the debt and deficits through the roof twice.

I still like Romney but I'm giving a serious second look to Obama. To me the Republican Party has been running on a platform of self interest that amounts to: "Greed is good". As I see it, the problem is that when it's all you've got, it isn't good; it's self destructive. At this point, imo the Republicans have given the election away.

We (the TAX payers) should......

Posted By jeff glancy

Today Paulson and the banks iced the cake as far as corporate greed goes. When the question was brought up to the banks that the government (ie the taxpayer) would like equity positions or stock options in the institutions being bailed out, Paulson said the question was put to the banks and it was a deal killer.
Absolutely friggin amazing. Private equity firms would get stock, options and non dilution guarantees.
I guess that the crises just isn't that bad. To hell with them all.

Astromart should

I assume that you've figured that either $15/ year or $1/ad will do it else the poll would have different options. I would suggest either $15/year or $1/ad at the option of the individual. IMO, I don't think either is too much. Naturally, donors should not be charged.
Just my $.02
