Is Ken Novak still in business?

Posted By Kurt King

Has anyone ordered parts from Kenneth Novak lately? Is the company still in business and what is their number if so? Thanks very much for your response.

UO Mirror cell question

Posted By Kurt King

Since Novak is no longer in business, how do the UO mirror cells perform, specifically a full thickness Pyrex 12.5" mirror with a 12.5" UO cell? I wouldn't think of using a UO cell for a thin or ultra thin mirror but hope to get away with one for a full thickness mirror. Thanks!

Mak question for Roland

Posted By Kurt King

RC, After taking your advice to not use slumped glass for a corrector, I've been in touch with a gentleman who has a couple of BK-7 correctors for an 8" c.a. Gregory. The correctors are finished but have an as yet undetermined number of scratches that will need to be reground. The gentleman is asking for an offer on 2 of the correctors and is awaiting a response from me now. Could you please advise what would be a reasonable offer to make on 2-8.5" blanks, BK-7.I have no idea of thickness, R's, just they are for a Gregory Mak. Thanks, I'd get some RFQ's but that takes time and I'd like to not miss making an offer. Thanks very much.

Any new apo designs?

Posted By Kurt King

It is coming up on 20 years since Mr. Christen gave us the Super Planetary design using BaK-1, KzFSN-4, & BaFN-10 in TM#28. While this triplet leaves nothing to be desired as to performance visually, is there anything today either economically or technologically, that might make for an updated super planetary design? If Mr. Christen presented such an article in 2005, would different glass be used and why?

Autocollimation photos

Good day fellow ATM's,
Enclosed is a photo of a 12.5" Cass. mirror set facing a 16" certified 1/4 wave flat. The photo was taken with a hand held digital camera behind a 120 line Ronchi screen. Is the photo capable of giving an idea as to the quality of this mirror? Comments either constructive or destructive much appreciated. Thanks.

Observing with the UO Super Erfles

Posted By Kurt King

Good Day All,
How are your gut feelings on observing with these eyepieces? Although having a full set of UO Orthos, I am curious if the Super Erfles would be a step up as far as greater FOV and sharpness(1 additional lens). Oh yes, the scope used with these eyepieces would be a 12.5" F/5. Eye relief is not an issue as I like to snuggle my eye with the front lens.

Monocentrics

Markus( and others)
The discontinued line of TMB Monocentric eyepieces seems very popular. There is none on anyones shelves. Why discontinue a popular line? Is there someplace to acquire some? Thanks.

Markus, can you update those of us waiting for our SuperMonos as to when TMB will deliver them? Can we have a reliable delivery date? Thanks from a good customer, Kurt.

accessing Astro Solutions LLC

How does one login to this website? Every time that funky secure login box comes up. It asks for my login & password but it seems that requires accessing the site to register(sounds logical right)? 8O Thanks I'd really like to see their Maks.
