fair (5/10) at best ,in the Avi Mars was
continuously changing shape and size but
I managed to get 183 images out of 990 .

5x Powermate F/25

Hi,

Atmospheric dispersion gave me a hard time on this
image, I had to really work at getting the channels
alined and they are still off some .
I ordered an atmospheric dispersion corrector from
AVA that has the rotating prisms and when it gets here
I will see if it's just smoke and mirrors :>) .
This is my first Mars image to use an IR blocker
on , I think the color is better now .

* 14.5 F/4.3 Starmaster working at F/30

Hi,

The sky finally cleared here in Oklahoma
which means more lost sleep :>)
This time I bumped my focal ratio from F/30 to F/35
by using a longer extension with my Televue
5x Powermate , I would like to go F/65 as some
have done but I don't think my Alt/Az tracking
mount will track well enough for that.

762 frames from 1600, Toucam Pro ,Sehuler IR Blocker

Mars -Tharsis Volcanos

Posted By Wesley Higgins

Hi,

This image was take on July 16 2003
at 05:28 CST or 10:28 UT .

If I have my information correct the three volcanos that for a line pointing toward the South Polar Cap are beginning with the one farthest North ,Arsia Mons, Pavonis Mons and Ascraeus Mons.
Olympus Mons can be see near the terminator about the
middle .
I have been using a Schuler IR Rejection filter and for this image I used the Baader UV-IR that I just received ,
I'm not sure which one is best as of now .

Starmaster 14.5 working at F/40 ,
Toucam Pro, 367 frames from one Avi of 1600

*10:28 UT
*CM 164.54
*Dia 19.43
*Alt. 40 Degrees

Thanks,

Mars Volcano Correction

Posted By Wesley Higgins

Hi,

In a post I made today with an image of Mars attached
showing the Tharsis volcanoes I made an error in their
location , I forgot that Mars maps have North
up and the generally acepted way to show an image
here on the Net is with South up, below should now be the corrrect location of the volcanoes .

The three volcanos that form a line pointing toward the South Polar Cap are beginning with the one farthest North ,Ascraeus Mons, Pavonis Mons , and Arsia Mons.
Olympus Mons can be see near CM as light colored patch .

Wes Higgins

Hi,

This is my first attempt at imaging the Space Station,
the solar panels show up well but the main body
could be better , for my first attempt I'm satisfied .

Hand guided 14.5 Starmaster , Toucam Pro at prime focus
image enlarged 3x

Brian Feldman great Mars image

Posted By Wesley Higgins

Hi Brian,

I hope you don't mind (and I apologize if you do)
but I took the liberty of doing some more processing
on your excellent Mars image .

I realigned the color channels , took out some noise
and darkened the back ground .

Thanks,

Wes Higgins
