Mars July 31 with dust storm

Posted By Wesley Higgins

Hi,

This Mars image is a stack of 115 frames from an
AVI of 500 .
If I'm not mistaken the bright yellow area just North of Margaritifer Sinus or the lower right side of the planet is a dust storm.

* 14.5 Starmaster at F/35
* 9:04 UT
* CM 343.49
* Dia 22.22"
* Alt 40 degrees

Thanks,

Wes Higgins

Just found this Forum

Posted By Wesley Higgins

Hi,

I can't believe I have not found this forum before
now , I have searched the web for Mars related sites
and this one has been just under my nose so to speak
by being on the same page as some other Astromart
forums I frequent .

It looks like there are some very knowledgable people
on this list and I plan on checking it everyday day now
and maybe contribute some of my very limited knowledge
and a few images (if the sky will ever clear now
in Oklahoma). My drawing skills are practically non
existent so images are all I have to offer , I'm not sure
if this is more of a drawing only forum though.

Thanks,

Wes Higgins

Hi,

Image taken at 8:59 UT , Tecumseh Oklahoma .

121 frames from one Avi of 1300 , I have had better

seem to show up better .

Not Mars the Moon

Posted By Wesley Higgins

Hi,

As a slight a break from Mars images I decided to post a
Moon image.
Rima Hyginus is a seldom photographed Moon feature that
IMO is very interesting, it has a crater with a valley connecting from two sides , the chain of small craters in the valley on the right is interesting .
As a size reference the Rimi valley is four miles wide .

The image was taken on August 16 2003 at 9:30 UT,
14.5 Starmaster at F/30 , Toucam Pro , 10 frames
stacked in Registax and processed in Imagesplus .

Thanks,

Wes Higgins

Normally when I have good seeing at my location
in Tecumseh Oklahoma there will be dew everywhere,
this morning there was no dew at all , strange .
I could see Olympus Mons or at least the surrounding
area of it very clear on the computer monitor while
capturing the images and later with a 10mm Radian
into a 3x barlow I could just make out some slight
details of Olympus Mons visually .
