US sliding into a Syrian conflict?

The US is harping on Syria's possible use of chemical weapons - a good excuse to invade as we did in Iraq. We are moving military assets into the area and approved the NATO move to bring Patriots along the Turkish/Syrian border. We have formally recognized an opposition group. Recognizing the opposition means we can help finance them and arm them with bigger weapons.

I hope no US lives are lost helping to bring in another theocracy or chaos via a major battle between shias, sunnis and Kurds.

According to the local news sales of semi-automatic rifles are booming. One store display wall, full last week, only had a few rifles left. Sales of pistols and other guns have increased. Some are buying the rifles before a possible ban; others are buying traditional weapons to defend themselves from these nutjobs.
