Camera Lens to eyepiece connection

Posted By Theodore Smith

There have been plenty of people (myself included) who have connected telescopes of various sizes to cameras and taken photos, but who has gone the other way: connected an eyepiece to a telephoto camera lens, and how did you do it?

Pair of Ospreys

Posted By Theodore Smith

I shot this picture of this pair of ospreys while my wife and I were out walking the dogs at the boat ramp on
Grass Island off Guilford, Connecticut. She appears to be sitting on some eggs. Heavy overcast in background. Camera is an Olympus E1 with a Zuiko
OM 400 mm telephoto supported on a monopod.

Lunar Eclipse from Guilford, CT

Posted By Theodore Smith

I know this is old news but I thought I'd post anyway: the weather gods cooperated at the last minute. We had a high thin overcast which dissipated at totality so I took a few whacks at the moon with my camera and scope.

Olympus E330 behind a Celestron C5 with a .63 reducer, all riding on a CG5 equatorial mount; exposures varied from about 1/250 second on the full moon to 4 or 5 seconds on the eclipsed moon.

Total eclipse.

First Light with a Lunt 60 mm Ha scope....

with a Vixen 24-8mm zoom....saw lots of prominences at about 7 to 8 o'clock position; some detail on the sun's disk...Holy cats; this is what viewing the sun in H alpha is all about. Tough to stay out in 100 deg F though; besides which the office needed me back for the afternoon penance in front of the computer, but make no mistake, I will be back for more!

Webcam for Astrophoto

Posted By Theodore Smith

What webcam for astrophotography do you recommend that is compatible with Windows 7 32-bit OS that would have good control of exposure, gamma, etc? ('scuse me if I am revealing my ignorance....)

I don't know how to address this.....

...and I usually don't do this, but there's a first time for everything....My father died on May 6 in his sleep after several years of the Grim Reaper chasing him down with congestive heart failure, so now he is beyond our mortal help. My wife is in the hospital tonight suffering what appears to be acute liver failure from secondary liver cancer caused by a metastasis of breast cancer, and the prognosis is Not Good at best. Whatever calls on God, or Goddess of whatever name by which you know Him/Her, you might have to offer that could help influence the course of events would be most gratefully appreciated.
