Mounting a Televue STARBEAM Finder on a C-14 OTA

Posted By Scott Schneeweis

Does anybody out there have any experience mounting the STARBEAM using a DOVETAIL setup? Would like to configure the finder so it can be easily removed/installed from the OTA..understand the STARBEAM only comes with a Universal adapter which is a semi-permanent mount...

Thanks for your help..

Celestron C20 Astrograph

Note that on their website promo for the Celestrons new DK 20" the company make's the claim that quote: "Celestron’s Dall-Kirkham design exceeds the off-axis performance of even the Ritchey-Chrétien design." I wonder how the folks at OGS and RCOS feel about that...

Best Camera for H-Alpha Solar Photography?

Posted By Scott Schneeweis

I have an Solar Spectrum H-alpha sub .3 Angstrom filter on order...in addition to visual observations, would also like to image as well..does anybody have any recommendations for a camera which would be most suitable for this type of work...I am interested in true color images (or at least replicating the colors as they appear though the Eyepiece or at prime focus)..

Thanks for you help!!

EP Turret (Van Slyke)

Posted By Scott Schneeweis

Here with a couple of images of a new/improved 2" Hexagonal Turret Paul Van Slyke built, mated to my C-14 with a full load of Naglers.....with the Dew Shield in place I required no OTA forward CW (though I do have the OTA slid quite far foward on the Titan Gem)....

Astronomy Museum?

Posted By Scott Schneeweis

Anybody aware of a National or Regional museums dedicated to Astronomy (or an initiative to start one) to preserve the historical artifacts and technology affiliated with the Science/Hobby ect? Most Astronomy technology I have seen in museums tends to be in Aerospace forums..given the proliferation of observatories as well as Amateur equipment would sure be nice to see a museum whose primary focus is preservation of Astronomical history...
