Computer Counter

Posted By dan kowall

Sometimes it's the little things that bust your chops the most.
I had been using a nice wooden rolling cart made for kitchen use to hold my imaging laptop in the observatory.
The only problem was that I had to lean over to type or use the mouse. What a pain in the back.
My woodworking mentor wrote three books at a standup lectern that he built, so I followed suit, tossed the cart and built a computer counter that is at a convenient height to use while standing.
Now I'm a happy camper.

NGC 1333

Posted By dan kowall

As stellar nurseries go, this is the closest and perhaps the youngest. These newborn stars are all less than one million years old.
This area has emission nebulae, reflection nebulae, and dark nebulae.
About 12 hours of RGB with an ST10 on a 6" refractor.
Image details and a larger image are here:

Sh2-101

Posted By dan kowall

I'm just goofing around on this rainy day.
I stumbled on this shot from this past summer. I guess I had planned to take more exposures, but I never got around to it, so I processed what I had today.
There is a lot of nebulosity that would have shown up with more exposure time.
I'm posting this because it's a not oftened imaged object and it's always nice to get acquainted with something new.
ST10 on a 4" refractor
RGB: 30-30-30 minutes, unbinned
