Eta Carinnae, also from Chile telescope

Posted By Ron Wodaski

Same setup as the Omega Centauri image, but just a single 15 second (!) image.

M27 color

Posted By Ron Wodaski

I was installing Browser Astronomy on yet another telescope last night, and I needed to test the color exposure portion of the setup. I took 6 sets of images of M27. the exposures are short (it was a test!), but the result came out nicely so I thought I would post it.

Collimation was a bit off, so I have corrected the elongation at upper left and reduced the image to 80% to hide my changes.

6 LRGB sets (3:3:3:5 minutes each set), luminance 1x1 color 2x2. Taken remotely with Arnie Rosner's Rent-a-Scope at New Mexico Skies (a 12" Tak RC on a Paramount ME, and ST-8XE ABG camera).

Trifid Nebula color

Posted By Ron Wodaski

Got a brief break in the cloudiness last night, and took 20 1-minute images of the Trifid in luminance. Median combined, and added in color taken earlier this year with the ST-1001E camera. Redcued to 80% of original size.

ST-10XME camera on C14, Paramount ME (remote setup in New Mexico).

NGC6781 in color

Posted By Ron Wodaski

This is a planetary nebula that I literally stumbled on while cruising around in TheSky while imaging another target. It turns out to be a really interesting planetary nebula, with lots of detail and color. It's slightly smaller than M57, but the C14 and ST-10XME binned 2x2 are just about right for capturing some details.

Ten 5-minute images for luminance, and a single 3:5:6 minute RGB set for color.

Dark Nebula: Barnard 92

Posted By Ron Wodaski

I've had my eye on this nebula for quite some time. I haven't imaged very many dark nebulae, and I was surprised to learn that the first discoveries were as last as 1913. Imaging this one, I can see why they weren't found easily or earlier. Despite a set of 12 5-minute images, this exposure is barely enough to reveal some of the structural elements of this nebula. Clearly, one would need a very long exposure to show it more clearly. I guess I'll have to dig in and do some really long exposures to capture these more deeply.

I squeezed as much out of the image as I could, but some of the more interesting details are just hinted at in this one-hour image.

Another Dark Nebula: Barnard 93

Posted By Ron Wodaski

Here's another dark nebula from last night, also near M24 the Little Star Cloud. This is Barnard 93. The exposure was even shorter, so it was really tough to bring out any details - four images of 5 minutes each.

M16 - C14/ST-10

Posted By Ron Wodaski

Just couldn't resist taking some images of M16 the other night. This is a median combine of 39 one-minutes images with the C14, ST-10XME on Paramount ME.

Little Ghost planetary nebula

Posted By Ron Wodaski

This is 15 5-minute images of the "Little Ghost" planetary nebula. Taken with the C14/ST-1001E on Paramount ME. You can see some dim outer nebulosity of this rather small planetary, and the bright and dark patches of the Milky Way are also in evidence.

Little Ghost with color added

Posted By Ron Wodaski

I took the luminance for this one last night, and the color tonight. Three sets of 3:5:6 minute RGB.

Crescent Nebula Color

Posted By Ron Wodaski

This is an LRGB image of the Crescent Nebula, with eight 15-minute exposures for luminance and four sets of RGB images for color. Boy, this sure is a dim one! I thought I would see more details in the faint sections with so much luminance, but no.
