NGC 2992/93

This is a really outstanding image, Steve. The faint extensions are very well recorded, and details are really great. Very nice work.

M51.

Posted By Ron Wodaski

That's a beaitful M51, really sharp/detailed and also nice and deep. Very nice!

A few tips to take it to the next level:

* The white point for blue is a little high; lower it to bring out more blue in the spiral arms;

* The black point for red is a little low, and the overall image black point is also a touch low. This gives the background a reddish cast. Fixing the black points will clean this up nicely.

* After the above adjustments, you will probably find the image a little dark. A small non-linear histogram boost (e.g., Curves in Photoshop) will restore brightness balance.

HorseHead and Flame / Color 10.4 hour image

Nicely done. Might raise the black point a bit to see if you like what that does to the image.

Very nice details. You are a little bit on the magenta side - try adding a little green to the mix by either lowering the white point for green (drastic approach) or use color balancing in Photoshop to boost the green mid-level a bit, and drop the red a bit. I used 0.86, 1.05, 1.08 for the red/green/blue mid points and got what I think is a little better color balance.

Really nice. Fascinating detail near the GRS, and bands just about all the way to the poles.

Software assisted focus on planets.

CCDSoft's @Focus will focus on a planetary image. Most of the other focus routines expect to see a star.

Crude 'first light' image...

Actually, that's a very nice image. Despite all the obstacles, you wound up wtih a neat shot. Quite an achievement, all things considered.

That's quite sparse for a glob, but very pretty with the combination of large/small, and red/blue, stars. Nicely images, very fine detail and color.

M51 with D60 and C11

That turned out very well done. Good details, and rich colors. I see what you mean about the noise, but still that's a very impressive galaxy shot for a D60.

Excellent results. You have a winning combination, and your imaging and processing ain't too shaby neither!
