Transit of Venus - Today!

Very nice views here, some excellent sunspots visible on the center of the disc. Viewing with a 127mm refractor with glass solar filter, 17mm Nagler, and iOptron MiniTower mount.

Vixen GP made in Japan

Posted By Pete Yeomans

Hi, I have an older green Vixen GP with dual axis drives and Lumicon DSCs installed. Can anyone give me an estimate on the weight limits of this mount? Been using with a Synta 120 8.5 and a AR102 without issues. I'm mostly a reflector guy and I'm contemplating an 8" f8 mirror in an ultralight truss to try on the GP.  I have a 15" Dob that I love but would like some tracking.

I agree John. I own several high end Naglers and Pentax XL eyepieces, but I keep coming back to the hand grenade for a lot of my viewing. It was one of the first EPs I bought many moons ago and I'll not sell or drop (Ihope).
BTW has anyone had the opportunity to compare the Pentax 40XL with the Meade 40?
