Tell you doctor about your eye not focusing well. Prolonged migraines, even optical migraines, over a few hours can indicate an area of the brain not getting enough blood, a type of stroke.
If you have these migraines very frequently and cannot identify a trigger (stress, red wine, caffeine, fine old cheeses are commonly listed) then you can consider being on a daily medication and will be able to enjoy astronomy, your job and girlfriend without concern.

42 is a bit young for presbyopia, the need for reading glasses usually doesn't kick in till the late 40's, early 50's. Did you see an ophthalmologist or an optometrist when you went to get glasses or did you just buy a pair of reading glasses in the store? If you haven't seen an ophthalmologist it is worth your while to have a thorough exam to sort out what is really happening with your vision.
