Another from this week: M45 The Sisters

Posted By Thomas V Davis

Here is the Pleiades, M45. I haven't shot this in a while so I thought I'd have another go. Both the reflection and emission components turned out well. The reflection discs from the blue filter are seen around the brighter stars -- I did not try to fix these. I don't they distract anyway.

IC405 Flaming Star in Auriga -- Revisited

Posted By Thomas V Davis

Sorry for posting this again, but I was not pleased with the first version of this nebula. I didn't like how the stars turned out. So, in keeping with the digital age, I went back and step-by-step reprocessed. I like this version much, much better.

Another M33 -- nothing too special

Posted By Thomas V Davis

I took this last night while waiting for another target to rise. It certainly could use more exposure....

Here is the "Other" Target

Posted By Thomas V Davis

This image needs a WHOLE LOT more exposure time, but I decided to post now because my FOV is not what I want. I need to re shoot a little wider and much, much longer for this very faint object.

I'll repost after I get this object the way that I want. Also, notice the space junk that streamed through her mouth -- multiple debris trails, bummer.

Cheers,
Tom

First color attempt of Horse Head this year

Posted By Thomas V Davis

I took the color data last night and added it to my Ha image taken a few weeks ago.

It's pretty tough processing around Zeta Orionis! I did capture its 4th magnitude companion however.

M78 revisited

Posted By Thomas V Davis

My next project is the region around M78. The weather has not been cooperating so I haven't been able to get any new data lately. So, for inspiration I went back to my data from December 2004 and re-processed it with some newer techniques that I have been working on.

This is what I came up with.

M78; Orion
Astro-Physics 155 EDF f/7 refractor
.67x reducer
ST-10XME LRGB 76:100:40:40 min. L=36Clr, 40B. R= 60Ha, 40R.
December 2004, Inkom, ID

I hope to get some new M78 data soon.

Best,

Tom

Hi Group,

I took this last night. Now I need to get the color data.... There's a whole lot going on in this corner of the sky!

M78 -- A new look at an old favorite

Posted By Thomas V Davis

Here is a project that I have been working on for over a month. I decided to try to get some of the very faint H-alpha region surrounding M78. This area is covered with a fine dusting of HII gas. Barnard's Loop is just to the east (left of image). The exposures were long and the processing was tedious. I may add more data in the future -- just for fun!

Thanks,
