Time to 'fess up - similar to Mars again.. post

Posted By Jose Suro

Hi,

Down in the CCD Imaging forum there are lots of gorgeous pictures of Mars complete with hours of post imaging processing, etc - of which I've posted a few (not so gorgeous) myself. I've decided to post and image here as close as I can get it to visual on my NexStar 11 GPS at 400x at my monitor's 1280x960 resolution - your mileage will vary. It's really close - some moments it's better but mostly worse so this is a high average of sorts on a morning of good seeing and great transparency. Even got the boil on the planet's edge. Any way, here's the image.

As close as I'll ever see it....

Clouds broke up for about an hour and was able to get some images at around 1:30 EST. Still have to go through some sets but this looks like the best so far. Seeing was 5/10 Pickering and 4/6 transparency. Image is actual size.

Probably my best Mars yet - Olympus Digicam

Posted By Jose Suro

Finished processing my images from this morning and this is the best one of the bunch. Upped the resolution on the camera to it's highest short of TIFF and it seems to help with detail. Took the shots at the closest distance Mars will ever be in my lifetime .

Mars - Uranus Comparison

Posted By Jose Suro

Also took a potshot at Uranus this morning - a single image at the same resolution and scale as the Mars images. I put the two together here to show a size comparison. Both images are actual size.

Latest Mars w/Olympus digicam

Posted By Jose Suro

My lastest effort - in pretty horrible conditions. Seeing was 3/10 and winds were up around 15~20 MPH.

Rupes Recta - First Attempt with Digicam

Posted By Jose Suro

First attempt at The Wall with my Olympus C4000Z. A 10 day Moon with short shadows and not the best seeing made for challenging conditions.

Would any one like to give this a try?

Posted By Jose Suro

I don't own any software with deconvolution capabilities and was wondering if any one here would be so kind as to give the image below a try so I could see if I need to make the investment in new software.

The image is a raw luminance stack of Mars from last night.

Thanks!

Olympus Digicam and 2X Barlow Test

Posted By Jose Suro

Hi,

Finally got around to processing this image from August 10th. As a test, I decided to double the image size provided by my current setup by using an inexpensive 2X Barlow. The result looks promising so I'm going to order a high quality one soon.

I'm leaning towards an A/P Barcon. Any one with experience with this Barlow?

Another Mars Image??

Posted By Jose Suro

Well, its been cloudy and rainy here since last Saturday so I reprocessed my Mars image from 8/27 taken with my Olympus C4000Z digicam. Here's the result along with a CalSky model image on the left:
