Double Cluster

Posted By Jose Suro

FINALLY! A clear night after months of cloudy nights and hurricanes. I spent most of the night calibrating my scope on its new pier but I did take a few minutes to snap this shot.

Borg 76ED with 1.04x flattener piggybacked on a NexStar 11 GPS - SBIG ST2000XM - 25:16:8:12 LRGB - Images Plus - PhotShop CS - image reduced 33%.

CCD Moon

Posted By Jose Suro

Tonight I'm waiting for the Moon to go down so I can run some tracking tests but while waiting I figured why not take a shot at it.

Borg 76ED piggybacked on a NS11 - SBIG ST2000XM - single .015 second exposure through red filter - 100% size cropped for display - Photoshop CS for Auto Contrast and Sharpen.

My First Galaxy - M33

Posted By Jose Suro

Last night I wanted to try a new program called CCD AutoPilot that automates everything related to imaging and reduces noise by dithering. It works very well. I tried it on M33 - my first attempt at a galaxy. High winds and the Moon being up and SO bright didn't help at all. The signal/noise ratio goes way down.

Borg 76ED piggybacked on a NS11 - ST2000XM - 35 LRGB images at 160:50:25:37 minutes - Maxim - Images Plus - PhotoShop CS - Neat Image - all automated with CCD AutoPilot.

Now I have to get ready for another hurricane .

A tricky globular to image and process because the of the very bright core.

Bubble Nebula - NGC7635

Posted By Jose Suro

Last night was my first time out with my new Astronomik H-alpha filter. Seeing was so-so because of a front going by but transparency was nice.

Saturn the old fashioned way

Posted By Jose Suro

I saw this post in the SBIG forum this morning and just had to cross post it here. It's a Saturn image taken by Adam Block, not with a webcam, but the old fashioned way with a standard CCD camera. There are even two moons visible.

Cederblad 214 in H-alpha

Posted By Jose Suro

Hi all,

This is a work in progress. Clouds rolled in last night after midnight and stopped me short of taking more luminance and the RGBs. Seeing was pretty good - measured 1.65 arc-seconds FWHM during focusing. Will probably wait for a Moonless night on the RGBs.

Eclipse from Florida

Just came inside and put together a quick one - haven't looked at all of them yet plus I also shot film which will take at least a day.
