Hardin DSH 8 Question

Posted By Joe Bruessow

Hi Douglas,

I have used the 6" 10" and 12" DSH scopes and most had respectable optics. Only 1 out of 5 or six that I have seen had views that were less than acceptable. A great buy at the $299 asking price. The base really isn't too bad at all, especially with the smaller OTA's... and the newer white tubes look very nice. I think the 8" also has a 2" focuser. Great scope at a super price.

Thank You AP!

Hey Paul...

Nice to see AP comes through... great company. I am curious about STL11K... WOW! It seems just a year ago you were pushing the limits of the Nikon Coolpix 4500... quite a jump.

Can't wait to see images with that rig!

Telescope for a 12 year old?

Posted By Joe Bruessow

I think it depends on the parent buying the scope. My 5 year old daughter has a 12" SCT, atop an MI 250 goto mount and a nice SBIG ST2000XM ccd camera. While I, on the other hand, am getting a 6" dob for Christmas wink

Truly, a 6" scope is a nice start, but an 8" does improve the views of many beginner's favorites... I think an 8" scope is the aperture when globular clusters begin to really show their stuff smile

I wonder if it is a new line of apos to replace their discontinued line? Just a thought...
