Seeing has been surprisingly good for Michigan... I seem to have picked up a white spot on the disk... I thought that was kinda cool.

Who has tried the Canon 300D (Digital Rebel)?

Posted By Joe Bruessow

Okay, who tried the new Canon 300D digital rebel that is selling for around $900 for astrophotography? How does it compare to the 10D... which I know is excellent?

Thanks,

Joe

Orion 80 ED M33 Luminance

Posted By Joe Bruessow

Thought I'd post a 40 minute luminance image through my 80 ED. This is a cropped section of the original ST8 (non E) image...

I need alot more luminance.... and have yet to shoot the color channels. Being a relative newbee to this stuff I am satisfied with my initial results.

Your thoughts?

Orion 80 ED M33 Color Image

Posted By Joe Bruessow

Alright, be kind. This is my second color image with a CCD camera ever! I know it still needs work, but thanks to a good CCD imager friend (I met through A-mart smile )I have been making incredible headway...

Anyway, I (like many) was amazed at the reviews of the 80mm ED scope... so I got mine in October. It is truly an apo... right up there with the TV76 and the like.

The image I have posted was taken with an old ST8 non-E, through Astronomik's color filters.

Weather has really messed up my exposures so color balance is off by quite a bit. I have approximately:

70 min. luminance 1x1 binned
20 min red 2x2 binned
15 min green 2x2 binned (this is the worst)
60 min blue 2x2 binned.

Thanks!

Which is a better reducer for a C14?

Posted By Joe Bruessow

I am curious as to which of the following is a better reducer to use with my SBIG ST8... the f/6.3 reducer Celestron sells or the Lumicon GEG? Anyone tried and compared both?

Field flatness, vignetting, chromatic issues...?

Thanks!
