My roll-off roof

Posted By Tom Osterholt

I built my backyard roll-off roof observatory last summer, it is 12' by 11', the pier is towards one side so there is plenty of room to spread out.I've been in a 6' and a 8' dome and it seemed very cramped, even with only two people observing.

Question on registeration and stacking

Posted By Tom Osterholt

Hi, I am having a problem with processing my images. I am imaging with an older ST7 and CFW8 thru a C11 using CCDOPS at the camera and then transporting the images into Photoshop to do the registering and stacking etc.Does anyone know of an easier(and inexspensive) software that will make the registering and stacking easier and more precise. I have heard that you can download different AstroImaging progams but I don't know where to find them.
Thanks for any help, Tom

Looking for the Christmas Tree Cluster

Posted By Tom Osterholt

Hi everyone, I am looking everywhere (books mags, net) for a picture of NGC 2264, The Christmas Tree Cluster in Monoceros
Does anyone out there know where I can come up with one.
I am trying to prove to my family (and friends) That there is a Christmas tree up there! I would drag everyone outside tonight to take a look if it was not storming! Thanks, Tom

Boyz and their Toys

Posted By Tom Osterholt

Just a shot of my favorite things, all I can do is fiddle with the stuff until the weather clears up, seems like it's been cloudy and raining for over a month here in No. Calif.
But I'm asking for some clear skys for Christmas and I've been good! Maybe Santa will bring it tonight!
Merry Christmas everyone!! Tom O.

CI700 tracking problem

Posted By Tom Osterholt

Hi, Last night I started having problems with my CI700 tracking in RA. It seems as if the RA gear is not engaging. I have heard of "CI700 fix-it" websites but I can't seem to find them. Can anyone out there help? Thanks, Tom

Dumb question about IR blocking filter

Posted By Tom Osterholt

This is probably a stupid question, but I have a CFW8 with the IR blocking filter in line (in the nose of the filter wheel) I was looking at the filters(for dust) and noticed that the IR filter and the clear filter in the wheel seem to be identical. I've also been unable to get good results with tri-color images (no color when combined). Is there a way to tell the differnce between a IR and a clear filter? And if this was just a clear filter in line, would this be my problem with tri-color imaging? Thanks for any help,
Tom
