Re: Ugliest Scope Contest!

I found this picture of the "Ultimate scope" I wish I knew who took it.
Even Naglers and Panoptics can't make up for this.

I am using almost the same system! I have a Burgess 127 with great optics and a WO crayford focuser on a CI-700. This picture if from the Okie-Tex Star Party. I am still amazed at what I can see with a 5" under very dark skies.

CI-700..which computer works best?

Posted By John Love

I have 4096 tic encoder geared 2:1 for 8192 tics. These are mounted with JMI brackets. I replaced the warped plastic gears on the encoders with aluminum ones. I have the AAM and a Sky Wizard that are both "Tangent boxes". I have also used the Sky Commander with the CI-700. The pointing accuracy is very good putting the object almost dead center in the field. I like "Push To" operation just as much as full GOTO and it is more reliable. You also get to participate in locating those deep sky objects. 8)

Celestron CI-700

Did the controller get wet? Do the LEDs still come on?

I would be willing to look at it to see if it could be repaired. I am an electronic tech, and I have repaired one of these before.

Re: Meade LX200R OTA's

My understanding is that they are putting f10 RC optics in a standard SCT tube on the LX-200 mount. No electric focus or any of the neat stuff from the RCX400 line. It will still have the mirror flop issues and such, just with RC optics.

73P B Split Nucleus

73p is putting on a pretty good show and we still have a month to go. Here is an image of 73p-C 10x1m false color with a 200mm f4 newt and HX516 CCD.
