CI-700 Drive Control

Posted By John Love

I am still waiting for a reply from Celestron... It is going on three weeks since I asked if they would program the chips for me since they don't want to give out the file.

Customer service????

Vixen Flip Mirror IN-FOCUS "problem"

Posted By John Love

Those are standard "T" thread and I use one about 25mm long with my CCD camera or none with the filter wheel attached. These T ring extension tubes are not hard to find at most of the dealers selling imaging stuff. They also show up from time to time here on the "Mart". Edmund and others sell a shorter one that will take 1.25" eyepieces or T thread devices.

2" Foscuser for Orion 6" f/8 Reflector

Posted By John Love

Orion now sells a 2" low profile crayford focuser #08881 that has a base plate that would fit a 6". It is the one they have on their new 6" imaging OTA. I just got one and it's pretty nice with a built in extension tube, even though it is a little heavy.

Encoder Question

Posted By John Love

Hi Bill the encoder counts in quadrature so set the DSC for 8192 (2048 X 4)if there is no reduction. Then you just have to determine the direction, (+ or -).

StarShoot Support?

Posted By John Love

I found focus for a similar system during the day inside my house. It made it much easier to figure out which way I needed to go with extension tubes to get within range of the focus ring on the lens. See if that helps.

Joe Castoro painted my AP tube

Posted By John Love

I just got my ED-80 tube back from Joe and it looks great. I think it added a whole magnitude to the scope! LOL 8v)

I had him do it in AP white to match my other OTAs. I love white tube refractors. I guess it is from becoming interested in astronomy during the 60s. I always lusted for a 6" Unitron.

Fantastic as always.

I just wish we would get a stretch of clear weather with decent seeing.
