The biggest ASShole in the world?

Posted By Neil Barnett

No Big deal.
He didn't state anything about Herb's personality that wasn't already very very very well known.

Merry Christmas - edit HOLE

Good grief,

Am I not lernt english good or just not reeding so well rightness?

I wish some one of the writers stature would have a literate person edit their emails for proper English. They shouldn't need an editor any way. Sheesh.

You go Herb. But please limit the emailers letters. They hurt as much as Chinese directions. I'd love to see your version edited to correct English.

What's wrong with the new format?

Posted By Neil Barnett

For crying out loud members, does anybody read AM LLC comments?
Herb said something is going to be done. It can't be INSTANT, it takes a little time to make a change. If the Landscape photo remains the default I'm sure there will be hundreds of contuing bitching if not more, that can go on from that point.

As far as Herbs crytoquip replies go. Get used to it. Herb is not something that I expect to ever change. Read between the lines.

All of the Anacortes pictures, auction and otherwise, are just as butchered up as ours.

Now we can take a chuckle at the next oblivious "Hey, this sucks!" that has failed to bother checking the proceedings stated (even if it does in fact suck...for now).

Can I get an AMEN....

Posted By Neil Barnett

Hey, no problem mentioning problems, that's how they get fixed. There's a difference between $%#@ and letting issues be known.

Here's what I've found at 6:22 MDT. Any ad that has more than one picture works great. Any ad with only one picture shows nothing. You have to click on the 'show all' link to see any picture from an ad with only one picture. This probably has something to do with how a single picture ad also uses the picture in avatar form and in the general classifieds list. Some how, additonal picture(s) trigger the complete system.

SO, not an 'amen' yet but close. I DO like the new manner in which I can browse the pictures. Code Monkey also stated that a click will be added that will show a picture in full glory instead of just the window. A little more bug shooting and I like the promising system. Pictures are easier to browse, and they are now loading faster than during the previous #@$%ing.

More problems with new format?

Posted By Neil Barnett

Rolando,

I explained this a little in the "AMEN" string. The glitch seems to be with ads that only have one picture. This probably ties into how a single picture is used as an avatar in the preview and the ad. Multiple pictures seem to trigger the system correctly. It's getting better. The pictures load quicker and are easier to browse in my opinion.

Code Monkey also stated that he will ad a click that will show a picture in full glory so you won't be restricted to the ad window for closer detail.

Just a little more tweeking....

Do you like the new ad format better?

Posted By Neil Barnett

I think it is a great improvement.

Pictures from deleted ads

Posted By Neil Barnett

Fine, let's try this simple question.

Do pictures still remain when deleted ads are searched for my their ad number?

Thank you.

Seeing new look today, nearly unuseable in a practical sense

Posted By Neil Barnett

problems expected but...

nothings seems to work in any reasonable way, large fuzzy images on right side ads and if I'm paying for the website - I don't want ads on the right. classifieds are essentially non functional - total mess - useless. no need to go on really,  management should be all over this to get basics fixed first, get the obvious.
The extent of errors to launch is disappointing.

Posting a classified is getting absurd

Posted By Neil Barnett

I can't copy and paste my ad.  Typing it all in directly starts to slow down the screen well before an Andy S. type dissertation. Pictures aren't working. I get one picture to show up. When I finalize the add, the screen goes into a constant "Please wait" till I finally just exit. It freezes my comp. Then I find out the add is waiting confirmation somewhere.....which I would never know with the screen frozen when I tried to send it.  It's not my comp, it's what has become a more and more pathetic site. I'm on a Dell dual processor comp only a couple of years old. Never an issue with other sites, any of them, from CL to CN.

What is with the frozen screen when sending in an ad?
What is with the slower and slower screen after just two modest paragraphs?
What is with the pictures not working?
How can I copy and past my ad so that I can use a cooperative medium to write it?

The yellow announcements of each membership payment has become something to just wade through. It's old hat. It is nothing more than the site trying to make itself look big - PERIOD. The site isn't what it used to be. For decades I've upped the $100 annual even when it was free (which other sites still are), but this time only 6 months to see if I can bear it.  It's overly complicated, a pay site that still gives advertisement, and what's with the fuzzy advertisement created by the latest update butchering? It makes the site appear as unprofessional as the classifieds posting process.

To be honest, AM used to be the unquestioned king of astro classifieds and it's lost that respect. I have a consensus from discussions of many from star parties, meetings, astro groups, and more. Too many to list here or it would likely get this entry clipped by some ones known eccentricities. I would seriously like to discuss this with some one in Astomart, maybe privately?  Just a clue of frequently open discussion items range from the Header ads that are obviously largely self serving site ads that very many if not most just skip through, to complicated membership and number of ads and time delays and yes I've seen those just toss there hands up at it and leave the discussions. This is not to mention the current mechanical internal site issues that make ads arduous. There's lots more openly hitting the buzz out there and I'd like to share it in private. I'd like to see this place shape up, and here's the biggest buzz:  MOST in the discussions would like to see the place shape up to its old unquestioned top of the ladder place to go for astro stuff.
