Yosemite Valley last week of August 2010

Nice series, Jerry. Good composition, and the slight underexposure really emphasizes the richness of the colors. What camera and lens were you using?

Yosemite is one place I haven't visited yet, but it's high up on my bucket list.

John,
Your shots from Colorado National Monument reminded me of what a great place it is, so my wife and I stopped there for a couple of days over the weekend while we were taking a quick week-long trip through NW Colorado. I'll post a couple of images after I get them downloaded from the camera and re-sized. Look for them in a day or so.

Lee,
I like all the images, but my favorite is #1, the lighthouse.

Eclipse

Posted By Jim Carpenter

Nice montage, John. My wife and I set our alarm to get up just before totality, so we had a view very similar to your three shots. I was hoping to get some photos with my new D7000 and SV105 but I couldn't find my Nikon T-adapter :C . It was clear here in Denver, temperature 31*F during the portion of the eclipse we watched -- really quite balmy for December.

Tripod / Mount for AT-66 Refractor

Posted By Jim Carpenter

I use a UA Microstar on a Bogen 3001 tripod (same as Manfrotto 055) with my SV66ED, which is essentially similar to the AT66. A Bogen/Manfrotto 3021 would be a better choice for the tripod, but I already had the 3001. Total cost of the Microstar and 3001/055 is about $300, maybe $350 if you go for the heavier tripod.
