AM Used Item Rating System- Proposal

Posted By Howard Platnick

Classified column to indicate used rating number.

Would allow classified ad search by rating number for example rating 1-4 only.

This is just a suggestion and might be useful for buyers and sellers who use AM.

Any thoughts, comments, or suggestions welcome.

Thanks

Wondering about 16 Nagler type 5

Posted By Howard Platnick

I use a pair of 16&5 in my baader bino with 1.25 and 2.6 OGC. I think the views a great at about 100x and 180x. Saturn and the moon are also great (warm views(. I will now get a pair of 11mm naglers for higher power (before the sale ends at least).

Why I love my Starmaster

Posted By Howard Platnick

Thanks for the links about seeing thru the scopes. I find it helpful to have these types of images for reference.

When I view Saturn I see the detail but not the amount of colour you show in you posted photos and this is probably related to my limited aperture (6” apo). I know it is hard to get an accurate representation of what you see at the EP into a computer image and you have truly done a great job.

Do the colours you show for Saturn and Jupiter equal what you see at the EP?

Travel-scope research continued

Have you thought of the Tak Sky 90mm. Apo, 3.5 inch apature, compact, light, wide field views at f/5, faily rugged and a relative bargin compared to the AP line.

Why Bother With Super Planetary EP's ??

Posted By Howard Platnick

I do not have a lot of experience in observing. I have used 6 and 4mm radians and a 5mm TMB. I do find that the image is consistently brighter (by just a bit) in the TMB than either radian. This only comes into effect when I observe globular clusters or faint doubles. On planets the image appeared cleaner with the TMB.

I was no blinded as to which eyepiece I was using and my observation might be influenced by how I expected each EP to perform. The differences were slight but IMO perceived.

Tell us how the views are and how they compare to larger refractors with bino setup (split beam of light).

Sorry no mount suggestions.
