My 2nd Uranus w/Kodak family camera

Aloha
That looks like a single Raw image take with my Canon 10D. Try to take longer exposure times so you can capture the moons as well.
Nice image and color.

???Right forum but need advice on CCD DLSR

Posted By Freddy WILLEMS

Aloha Michael,
I have a Canon 10D (6.3 MegaPixel)and that work great for Deep Sky photography.
I would love to get my hands on a Canon XTi(10 MegaPixels), and see what the difference is.
There are a lot Canon 10D's for sale on EBay at a reasonable price with a standard lens.
The canon camera's work great with DSLR software.
I'm planning to do more practise with the Canon 10D before switching over to a more expensive option.
There are a lot of canon camera adapters (2" and 1 1/4") that come with the adapter ring to fit the canon model.
I also use a Celestron 0.63 focal reducer that screws on to the adapter ring and the Canon body. The only thing you need is a dark skies so you can make a lot of long exposure for stacking in a astrophotograhy software program.
Focusing is very crusial so I also use the canon angle viewer to focus and the software DSLR focus for fine tune focusing, Then you can set the exposure time and frame capture counter and go watch Opah or a Star Wars movie.
Make as much long exposures as possible for stacking. And indeed try to get a close polar alignment as possible to make long exposures. There are a lot of websites and links that give you all the right and easy ways to do this.
I had a Meade LXD650 and 750 before and they worked really well, they also have computer connections to hook up the scope with a laptop, great stuff.

Hope you get lots of reactions here to make the right decision, I also want to learn more about other inexpensive options.

I hope this will help a bit. Just my personal opinion'

Meade 127mm ED APO collimation

Posted By Freddy WILLEMS

This image is taken with the Canon 10D unmoddefied.
When I use the Orion collimator tool I can see that the white and blue dot do not line up properly. I guess that is the collimation ?
I will buy the laser collimator to find out for sure before I start screwing around.
