Gemini - User coordinates

Posted By Freddy WILLEMS

Just a questioin about how to use or key in your own coordinates like
RA and DEC to search for an object that's not in the Gemini object list.
Like comets and asteriods.
How do you key in these coodinates to slew to that object ?

Losmandy / Gemini auto guiding

Posted By Freddy WILLEMS

Aloha
Is somebody familiar with auto guiding with a Titan mount ?
I have a orion 80 ED and want to use this for auto guiding the Titan Mount. The ToUcam is connected to the computer with the USB cable, now the Gemini is connected to the computer with a serial cable I guess. But which one and how does it work with what software to use best for this setup ?

DFK21AU04.as

Posted By Freddy WILLEMS

Well, I have a DFK 21AU04.AS USB Color/version.
And I tried different settings to capture saturn.
Like Y800 codex and so, but most captures turn into B/W ?
And when I use the color codex then the white balance Blue and the white balance red sliders go automatically all the way to the end (highest level, so I have a very red saturn.
I just want to record a color AVI of Saturn without all the different automatic sliding options
I do set the settings manually but for some reason something overrides it all en turn the image extremely red. (maybe the codex settings ?)
I just want to know what setting you guys apply those who have the DFK 21AU04.as.
I have the camera just a month and I just started to try it out so I hope some one can help me out here to capture color avi's that can be processed in Registax.
If not I'll return the camera.

Saturn and storm April 23, 2008 -

Posted By Freddy WILLEMS

Aloha
I have it finally together with the DFK camera.
Took some images over the last few days, still working on the right color balance and color processing.
Anyway this image is taken with the Meade 14"LX200 with DFK21AU04.as camera USB version and a 2 X TV powermate.
About 3300 imahes were taken and pre-selected in HandyAvi.
Processed in Registax at 95% of about 1400 images.

Meade 127mm ED APO collimation

Posted By Freddy WILLEMS

I have on older Meade 127 mm ED APO and love it, replaced the focuser with the moonlite focuser and looks really great. I take it to star parties for some astrophotography.
But now I come to the point to adjust the collimation, I have the Orion 'eyepiece' collimater not the laser one. Just want to try this one out before bying the laser collimator.
Now the from lens has 6 srews, 3 big and 3 smaller ones.
I just want to know what screws to use and if there is a link to collimate the Meade 127 mm ED APO.
Just want to give it a try, if not I'll sent it to Meade.

Saturn May 14, 2009 Hawaii - Titan shadow Transit

Posted By Freddy WILLEMS

Titan Transit Imaged on May 14,2009 from Hawaii. Lots of overcast in the beginning of the transit, could grab 9 Avi's between the clouds with a sequence of 20-30 minute interval. Some frames are a bit over processed to show details more. You can see Titans' shadow drifting over the surface of Saturn, There is also a storm visible moving on top (south pole) of Saturn. If you look close you an see Rhea's shadow just under the ring plane in some frames. Hope you enjoy the animated Gif.

Mars January 3, 2010 - Hawaii

Posted By Freddy WILLEMS

Mars the 'boring' side,
Run Ninox twice, selected 1000 frames manuelly, then Registax V5 and stacked 700 frames.
Hazy conditions and clouds, even the dew shield didn't help.
