It was there earlier today, but I just went to drop in, and it's gone again. *Please* tell me it's there, but I just can't see it for some reason.... Can anyone else see it?

I've begun evaluating the new eyepiece holders for the Denk, the 2" OCS and portion SR, and in short, am *very* *very* impressed. The optics are fantastic, fit and finish is simply supurb, and focus travel requirements are minimal (.5 inch in 1.25x, and .75 inch in 2.5x).

I won't even try to post the full report here, it's just too large.

There seem to be some rumors going around that the recent Cloudy Nights decision to become a corporate entity somehow involves Valery D. Postings in this group and elsewhere seem to have somehow drawn an assumption that there is/was some legal action or other *threat* afoot which prompted the decision to form a corporation.

Speaking as an associate of Cloudy Nights (and after having confirmed this with Allister) we would like it noted that we have never had any issues, problems or concerns in regards to Valery D. Allister has asked me to go on record and say (and I quote):

"...no such problem between us and Valery exists."

He further notes that all his exchanges with Valery have been polite, with nary a threat or a bad word.

As far as we see - there are no problems between us, nor have there ever been any.

In short, there is no basis to these rumors. Allister has decided to incorporate for several reasons, including, but not limited to, protection and limitations of legal liability and generation of revenue streams. It is our hope that cloudy nights will continue to be a resource for the amateur community well into the future. Our outreach program - "Tiny Eyes on the Skies" will be up and running again shortly, and we hope to continue to offer new programs and services to the amateur community. By becoming a corporate entity, Cloudy Nights helps to protect that future even as we move into it.

Equipment Report: Sunspotter from Learning Technologies

Well, the Sunspotter for Tiny Eyes on the Skies (the Cloudy Nights lending program) arrived today, and I thought folks might like to hear a little about it.

For those of you who don’t know what a Sunspotter is, and don’t care to check the web page: The Sunspotter is a folded achromatic refractor that projects about a 3 ¼ x 3 ¼ image of the sun on a white piece of paper. It’s designed for use with groups, and particularly with children. There are a number of advantages to using this for solar viewing when you are working in a group, but the two largest are probably that you don’t have to worry about the filter coming off and several folks can view at once.
