Wedge needed?

Posted By Guy Jordan

Yes, you need a wedge. The alt-az mount on your LX200 does not match the equatorial motion of the stars in the sky. Without a wedge, or some other means of getting equatorial motion, objects will rotate around the tracking point in your field of view.

Try this web site:

You will find a lot of information about your type of telescope at "Uncle Rod's" site. He also wrote a book about them.

Lasik and Astronomy

Posted By Guy Jordan

I chose to skip LASIK for three main issues:

1) Possible spiky diffractions at point light sources. The doctor I spoke with mentioned possible poor night vision due to scattered light from peripheral scarring.

2) Likelihood that I'd need corrective lenses for critical focus needs. Several people I spoke with who had the procedure needed glasses for reading afterward.

3) Non-permanent. As my eyes age the laser correction will become insufficient.

Choose what is best for you.

Very Nice Mr. Blue.

Hopefully, you won't need to re-optimize your eyepiece collection for the new telescope.

Clear skies soon-
