Saturn - the other end of the quality spectrum

Posted By Timothy Iafolla

Very cool idea, Fred, and a great way to link astronomy with the kids' everyday experience.

There are a couple of free/inexpensive apps that might allow them to produce higher-quality images:

1) A 99 cent camera app called '7.0 Megapixel Camera'--search the app store for '7 mpx'. It uses interpolation to produce higher resolution, and enables digital zooming. I think if the image is zoomed to fill more of the frame, the auto-exposure might do a better job of adjusting brightness and contrast.

2) Another useful app is 'Magnifying Glass' by IBeam. It allows extreme closeups with infinite zoom (free 'lite' version), and rotation, filtering, and sharpening (99 cent upgrade) to images before saving. Again, it may enable improved scale and contrast.

Hope this helps,
Tim

Very nice Paul. Very natural color and contrast--you avoided the temptation to make it bright white, congrats.
