Moretus in good seeing

Posted By Oliver Pettenpaul

Hi all,

seeing was quite nice this morning, at least for what I'm used to here wink
Skies have been totally clear, lady lunar reached over 60° and I was merry as a lark to fill my harddrive with moon captures 8)
Here's Moretus and some surroundings near the south pole:

Best wishes & clear skies,
Oliver

From Imbrium to Serenitatis

Posted By Oliver Pettenpaul

Hi all,

here's another processing from my wednesday session:
The area where the lavas of Imbrium and Serenitatis
merge between Appennine Mountains and Caucasus Mountains.
Some rilles including Rima Hadley are visible, the Imbrium
side of the gap shows some secondary craters, I guess from
Aristillus.

Clear skies!
Oliver

Lunar Southpole

Posted By Oliver Pettenpaul

Hi,

here's more processed material from last wednesday.
My favorite image is this region near the moon's southpole from Casatus towards the terminator:

And here's Plato just for the records:

My personal best so far (not too difficult) but I assume I missed the focus slightly.

Best wishes & clear skies,
Oliver

Alien landscapes - something completely different

Posted By Oliver Pettenpaul

Hi all,

here something different:
What can you do during a boring 12h business flight from Amsterdam to Tokyo ?
If you're lucky, you have a seat at the window, if you're more lucky the sight down is free from clouds and hopefully you brought your camera with you wink
Here some captures taken on February 26th somewhere above the north edge of Siberia at a flight height of about 10500m at ~1000km/h speed over ground. The landscapes below have a very extraterrestrial look making one dream of Mars or Saturn's moons. The quality of the results captured with my Kodak DX7630 through the plane windows turned out to be surprisingly good, here some alien landscapes smile

Some more can be seen at

Best wishes,
Oliver

Lunar Northpole 2006.10.11

Posted By Oliver Pettenpaul

Hi all,

here my capture of the lunar northpole from the 11th.
Seeing was fair but required 20 alignment points for the composite, transparency was on the weak side and constantly changing due to haze/mist.

Best wishes,
Oliver

Hi Robert,

a great result considering the current conditions! I was out myself this morning to capture Saturn but gave up due to seeing...

Best wishes,
Oliver

Venus 2007.03.11.

Hi all,

here my Venus capture from sunday, firstlight of my Schüler UV-pass filter. I'm quite happe with the image considering Venus dropping down towards the horizon quickly.

Best wishes,
Oliver
