Roof top observatory question

Posted By robert boedeker

First question is your roof tile or shingle if shingle and heat is an issue you could apply elastrometric paint (white). For the track issue when I did my observatory roll off roof 12'x14' I used 1 1/8" angle welded to 3/16"x4" plate the wheels were 4"v casters all hardware welding material cost $875. Weight of roof 2900 lbs. As of today are temp. is 124 and with are dust storms (finer than flour) I have no problems with binding.

Outside storage and humidity

Posted By robert boedeker

home depot has a product call "Damp-Rid. These are used in closet to keep cloths fresh in high humidity areas. I've used them second season in my observatory when I notice the high humidity and I live in the Arizona desert. Also if you have power to your obsevatory you can use a dehumidifier. I had to purchase an AC unit to keep my building cool below 90 degrees F. for more info you may call or leave number for more help on this problem. My number is 520-705-9478 (robert)

what a FIND!

Posted By robert boedeker

Good for you . And a nice find. It great to know that the vintage are still out there and being restored, taken care of and most importantly "being used". And just how elusive are these scopes like the small 4" blue and white's from the early Celestron days.
