Re: A not so boring side...

Hi all,

Many thanks for all your comments. To answer a couple of questions. I presume 17fps results at 1/17sec exposure times - Paolo could provide more details on this point.

As for how the image rated for me, i was very pleased with the result, especially for a 9.25" aperture, but my only regret - not having a bigger scope. There is always next year smile

Thanks again,

Damian

Re: Mars reaches 10

Hi guys,

Thanks for your comments.

Re: images at bottom right. These are B (350-450nm) filtered images to shows any hazes/clouds present on Mars.

Re: Time. around 60-80second capture.

Re: colour. This is a really tough subject. Talking about Martian colour is a real can of worms. No two Mars images are the same colour from different observers. I actually thought the color was pretty good smile .

I'd be interested Paolo/Tom to reference me a shot you consider of very accurate colour representation.

I got more this morning in excellent seeing. I did the G images both nights but didnt like the colour balance it produced. I'll post a set of differing RGBs etc to compare colour balance...

Thanks,

Damian

Hi guys,

Thanks for your comments. Opposition time should be interesting if the seeing is good, but we only have a few weeks with the diameter above 20" this time sad...lets hope...

Re: Recent Mars images

Posted By Damian Peach

Hi guys,

Thanks. Its been a good summer so far. Next time i see that hemisphere Mars will be 20", so i can only hope for a few more steady nights near the closest approach. The late Autumn weather can be decidedly variable though.

Most of the processing is done in Registax 3 (frame averaging and sharpening.) i used photoshop and PSP for colour balancing/resampling. They are RGB filtered images using a couple of thousand frames per image.

After so many nights imaging Mars already ive had tons of pratice getting back into imaging the Red Planet. Its really tough to get a good colour balance which has taken some head scratching!. The real G filter image is actually quite important to producing the best possible colour balance.

If i get lucky again, and shall post some more smile. Its great to see so many people making the effort on the early morning Mars...it has been an exercise in sleep deprevation.. 8O

Best Wishes

Damian

Hi all,

Thanks for your comments. Was nice to finally get a decent nights imaging on the Moon after two months with no success...

Thanks again,

Damian
