HGM Titan vs. CGE Pro

Posted By John Levine

Most of what I do is visual observing, but may dabble in DSLR imaging.
I am contemplating an upgrade in terms of my GoTo setup.
At present, I have a nice G11/Gemini.
The "big boys", ie: Ap, Tak, Paramount, et al, are not in the cards.
Two contenders that may suit are in the post line: the Losmandy and the Celestron.
Your thoughts and experiences?
Thanks!

Best Low-Power 2" EP's for 2" BV are...?

Posted By John Levine

For Siebert Elite 45 BV, I have a pair of 22mm Nagler type 4's.
Recommendations for a low-power pair: good build quality, eye relief that is not excessive; relatively affordable, works with an IPD of 65mm; field stop that can make use of the larger format BV; not too heavy.
I have found that these criteria narrow the field of contenders pretty quickly.
Short of loading up with Multimags and sticking with the Naglers, what are my options?
At first blush, it looks like the Baader-hyperion Aspherics, either 36mm or 30mm may hit that "sweet spot", but I will defer to the expertise of the more experienced participants of this Forum.
Thanks! smile

CZJ Micrometer problem

Posted By John Levine

I have a vintage Zeiss microscope micrometer.
Turning the knob moves a cursor accross the field laterally.
It was working fine, but now it can only be pushed to the Left; I cannot rack it back over to the right, in the field of view.
What's going on, and what is the best way to fix this? cwy

Thank you

WO FLT-110 or TV-102 . . .

Posted By John Levine

I own an FLT-110, which I use on a Discmounts DM-6.
In the past I have used offerings fom some of the major players in the refractor market. It is every bit the equal of scopes that are priced quite a bit higher.
I can tell you that it is a joy to use.
I echo the findings of Tom Trusock in his report in that other big astro site.

Harry S's EPs are really good.  I have the 17, 24, and 36mm EPs he sells.  I also have a 2x barlow that fits in the end.  The 36 is a wonderful EP...all of them are quite nice.

I am currently gathering a pair of 34mm Old Style Axioms...dont ask me why...memories

I tried two Matsuyama 32mm EPs...they were really heavy but of course the views were outrageous

I tried two Nag 22 T 4s...very very nice

All in all, I generally stick with Harry's EPs.  There are fewer elements, they are light, and the center is great for contrast.

I am using this in a 16" LX200.

Peter,

Appreciate your thoughts and perspectives!
Work has kept me out of the loop for some time now, so living vicariously through the experiences of others.
The 16" Meade was always the Holy Grail for me back in the day. May yours bring you joy for years to come.
