Saturn by a Canon A-40

Posted By Bill Friend

My first attempt at Saturn (raw, unprocessed image). Its a little overexposed, but I plan to keep at it. I plan to stack images made from a 30 sec movie later this week. Any advice/recommendations is greatly appreciated.

Equipment: Celestar 8 Deluxe, Canon A-40, afocal using Meade 4000 25mm pl.

Thanks, Bill

Pronto being phased out?

Posted By Bill Friend

I noticed Astronomics has a green Pronto listed as a new closeout in their Used/Demo section http://www.astronomics.com/main/used.asp?n1=5&w=1#Telescopes). Is Televue phasing this out?

Selling on Astromart/eBay simultaneously

Posted By Bill Friend

Hi Folks,

I've noticed some ads posted here are also posted on eBay as well. One particular seller "reserves the right to end the auction at any time". Which I think translated means if he gets what he's asking on Astromart, he'll cancel the ad on eBay.

Maybe its just me, but I think thats a disservice to potential eBay bidders. If your asking bidders to be serious about following through with the auction, shouldn't the seller just as responsible?

Clear Skies,
Bill

New Meade CCD/Software offering?

Posted By Bill Friend

Did anyone else see Meade's ad (back pages, S&T Oct issue) about a new entry level CCD (webcam) and imaging software for $149? I looked for more info on Meade's website, but couldn't find squat.

Stellarvue 102DN vs orig Genesis (f/5)

Posted By Bill Friend

Hi Folks,

I'd like to get a portable refractor for general viewing. I already have a Vixen GP and a TV Gibraltor mount. But I can't decide if I should go with the new 102DN or a used orig. Genesis. They're about the same length, but the 102DN is about 2 lbs heavier, so not an issue regarding size. I know the Genesis will have a slightly wider FOV, and perhaps better color correction. But the 102DN, new, is still less then a used Genesis. And I wonder if the 102DN would have better transparency vs the 4 element Genesis. Any advice or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Bill

I was wondering if anyone would share their experience/advice about using a Denkmeier binoview with the Ranger.

Thanks in advance,
