Two U.S. Democratic lawmakers want Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to relax recently tightened standards for mortgages on new condominiums...

In a letter to the CEO's of both companies, Representatives Barney Frank, the chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, and Anthony Weiner warned that a 70 percent sales threshold "may be too onerous" and could lead condo buyers to shun new developments, according to the paper.

I work in the home building industry. At least in my area, condo's are on the way out. Town houses are in.

Obama complains about Bush

Posted By david elosser

Back in 2004, then Senator Obama complained that President Bush pushed through legislation so fast that they did not have time to read or debate it:

Wow! In a time-warp sort of way, he is comparing his rush-rush Obamacare legislation to the way President Bush intimadated congress to pass the Patriot Act!

Remember this?

Posted By david elosser

From last year:
"The issue of CEOs of ailing auto makers flying around on corporate jets remained stuck in the craw of members of Congress, several of whom called the perk “arrogant.”

Okay, then why:
"At the end of July, the [Democrats in the] House approved nearly $200 million for the Air Force to buy three elite Gulfstream jets for ferrying top government officials and Members of Congress.

The Air Force had asked for one Gulfstream 550 jet (price tag: about $65 million) as part of an ongoing upgrade of its passenger air service.

But the [Democrats in the] House Appropriations Committee, at its own initiative, added to the 2010 Defense appropriations bill another $132 million for two more airplanes and specified that they be assigned to the D.C.-area units that carry Members of Congress, military brass and top government officials."

What's good for members of Congress, aught to be good for auto execs IMO.
