A co-worker of mine has a hummingbird that nested on some wind chimes in her porch. She gave me some pictures to share with everyone here. It was difficult getting a picture as this bird is very camera shy. wink

Darkest night of the year!

Posted By david elosser

Well, today's the new Moon, which means a dark sky all night long for deep space viewing! But, it's also the day that the Moon is at perigee, or it's closest point in its orbit to Earth. Just like when the full Moon is brightest at perigee, the new Moon is darkest at perigee, making this the darkest night of the year! smile Happy deep space hunting everyone!

Mother Cardinal feeding juvenile

Although this Cardinal juvenile has left the nest, he still clings to his old habits. Here he is chirping with mouth wide open and flipping his wingtips rapidly to get his mother's attention (just out of the picture frame on the right.)
