Campaign mode - rally the base time

Posted By James McSheehy

President Obama is coming to town! But not just any town, it's a place where he received a whopping 35% of the vote last November. The cover story for the visit is that he plans to showcase a local health care system that is delivering quality care and keeping costs reasonable. But why would Dear Leader pick an obviously unfriendly venue to try to make a high-profile statement? My guess is his handlers are planning on trouble, protests, and controversy and will use any incidents during the visit to try and rally their base. Obama among the great unwashed, ugly rednecks and hicks who aren't even smart enough to know they need his help. Of course those hicks and rednecks have created a model health care delivery system, but with enough bad press we can ignore that detail. grin

Too Machiavellian? Too Cynical?

Unalienable rights

Posted By James McSheehy

U.S. citizens are born with certain unalienable rights, i.e. rights that aren't subject to review or termination by a judge or bureaucrat. A trend in academia and politics is to deny the existence of these rights, because out of necessity they must arise from source beyond the purview of men (the "Creator"). I'd like to see what some of the posters here think about the concept of unalienable rights. If they are legitimate rights, what is their source? If they are not legitimate, what then limits the power of the government over the lives of citizens?

Fooled Again (We won't get...?)

Posted By James McSheehy

A tidbit for those who voted (and hoped for) change:

From Bill Gertz's 9/10/09 column about the NGEOS sole-source procurement:

The contract for the new intelligence satellites will cost taxpayers about $20 billion, making it one of the most expensive systems produced for both the Pentagon and U.S. intelligence community, according to the sources who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the subject.

The new satellite was approved personally by President Obama last spring, and the single contractor has raised questions among some defense officials because of the president's criticism of the procurement process.

Mr. Obama in a speech March 4 criticized what he called the "broken" system of defense contracting during the eight years of the George W. Bush administration, including cost overruns, fraud and an absence of oversight and accountability. "In some cases, contracts are awarded without competition," he said. The White House was not immediately available for comment.

Change it had to come
We knew it all along
We were liberated from the fall that's all
But the world looks just the same
And history ain't changed
'Cause the banners, they all flown in the last war

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around me
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
And I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
Don't get fooled again
No, no!

Meet the new boss
Same as the old boss

LOL -- hope and change -- how are we doin'? Feeling fooled yet?

And here is how they pay for it

That staunch conservative, Senator Jay Rockefeller, let the cat out of the bag on the administration's real plans for funding ObamaCare:

Obama, Hypocrite in Chief?

Posted By James McSheehy

From a posting by Karl Denninger this morning after President/Professor Obama delivered his speech at the UN, and lectured developing nations about corruption:

"President Obama, you're a hypocrite of the highest order and have absolutely no right to lecture any third-world banana republic while your administration practices every form of public and private corruption seen in such back waters of humanity - plus dozens they aren't sophisticated enough to figure out."

LOL -- nail on the head!

Queue the Twilight Zone Music

Posted By James McSheehy

I was listening to former President Bill Clinton pontificate in last Sunday's Meet the Press interview with David Gregory. The topic of the Clinton Global Initiative came up. The CGI is Clinton's front organization for collecting huge sums of money and applying the funds (in no particular order) to his travels, lifestyle, and some worthy causes. I almost spit my coffee when I heard Clinton say that the latest CGI will focus on helping young women avoid sexual harassment, workplace intimidation and abuse!

Props to David Gregory for maintaining a straight face when confronted by ultimate hypocrisy.

Reboot -- Obama 2.0

Posted By James McSheehy

Obama's first year is drawing to a close, and it looks like his gaggle of advisors have not served him well. I'm reading that Vallery Jarrett will be blamed for the Olympics fiasco, and Rahm Emanuel is the bag-holder for health care reform.

With the 2010 Congressional elections looming, and the economy flagging, Obama will be under intense pressure to "do something". Will he lurch to the right with a whole new cast of characters in the White House? Will he personally accept any blame for these blunders? Will Michelle be relegated to planting carrots in the garden?

The Purge of 2009 Has Started

Posted By James McSheehy

It looks like Obama has started the great purge of 2009, and the first head to roll is White House lawyer Graig Craig. Craig is a loyal Clintonista, so I'm not surprised that he would be one of the first to go. This could get interesting as Hil & Bill have packed the Obama administration with supporters in many key posts. Does Obama have the huevos to get them before they make their move (peaceful of course 8) ) against him?

Order the new doors for the White House

Posted By James McSheehy

President Obama wins the Nobel Peace Prize after only a few weeks in office.

"Rather than recognizing concrete achievement, the 2009 prize appeared intended to support initiatives that have yet to bear fruit"

Does this Prize have any meaning when the committee gives it away for good intentions? Congrats to the Prez, for what, I'm not sure. The White House will likely need new doors so his head will be able to pass through them.

New Smaller Mount from Bisque

Posted By James McSheehy

Just returned from the 2009 AIC (great show BTW)and one of the announcements was a new portable mount from Software Bisque. It will have a load capacity of 90 pounds and a weight of around 45 pounds.

This new mount will also feature updated through-the-mount cabling -- so no more DB25 and DB9 connectors in the age of USB. I was told that these new connector panels will also fit older Paramount MEs for those who want to upgrade.
