Resolution with greater aperture

Posted By Jim Phillips

Hi guys,
Great discussion. I am at the small aperture end of the discussion. I have had good results with my 8" apo. So, I would modify the aperture needed downward as far as minimum required for nice Lunar/Planetary images. Certainly you do not need a 12" scope for excellent quality images. That is not to say a 12" or larger scope would not produce esxellet results. Not at all. I am just saying, based on my personal experience, an 8 - 10" apo is capable of excellent lunar/planetary images.
