TV85, "Sharpest Eyes on Earth"

Posted By Michael Aaron McNeely

If you read the Astronomics website's description of the Tele Vue-85, you will notice at the bottom a small newspaper article that states that a small telescope in Antarctica can produce images rivaling the Hubble Space Telescope. You guessed it, the scope is a Tele Vue-85.

I did some Google searching and found a more detailed description of the Antarctic site and its incredible seeing:

Here is the original TV85 page for Astronomics:

Tele Vue 85 Obsolete?

Posted By Michael Aaron McNeely

The author of the following link thinks so:

http://www.epinions.com/content_60670054020

He basically claims that the new Chinese APOs deliver the performance of the TV85 without the high cost.

Opinions?

The Tele Vue APO doublets have been available for 8 years, perhaps Al is going to introduce a new design?

TeleVue 85 Websites

Posted By Michael Aaron McNeely

Here are a couple interesting TV-85 websites:

http://www.refractormonkey.com/televue_85.htm

http://www.tbrumm.de/umbau_eines_televue_tv_85.htm

Refractormonkey has some nice telescope pictures. The German site owner dismembered his TV-85. I wish that I could read German!
