I took these shots with a canon 20d and a 50mm ef 1.8 lens with a Kenko Extension tube set attachd.

The second shot does not have the tube set for perspective.

Shot through a 10" Meade LX 200 scope. That made for a 4080mm lens. I had to shoot at ISO 3200 and 1/8000 of a second to try and avoid shake given the heat and wind.

I am using a Canon 70-200L f4. I picked it up recently and I am extremely happy with it. Colors it creates are fantastic. This shot was cropped alot so quality went down. I have a canon digital rebel xt.

I have a post under "insects, flowers and other small objects" that shows the colors that this lens will pick up better. It is a shot of a bee. Check it out if you have a second.
